This morning I woke up with this song on my mind. "Open the floodgates of heaven. Let it rain. Let it rain". It is a gospel song. It's one of my favorite gospel songs.
I used to sing this song with the mindset that God was an entity out there somewhere. And that Heaven was also out there, somewhere, nowhere near here.
I used to sing it with tears streaming down my face in hopes this entity, God, would hear my cries and have mercy on me, would then open these floodgates of heaven and deliver me.
Because I didn’t know if I was good enough in God’s eyes to receive such favor, there was no real belief that this would happen. Just hope. Empty hope that is.
Hope with no power, with no real connection to my innate capacities. And with no real understanding of who God truly is or where God resides.
But this morning, this song landed differently. I sang it with new awareness. I sang it with the awareness of the presence of God in me.
The true meaning of the lyrics came alive on my tongue and reverberated in my soul. The truth was revealed.
The gates of heaven is my Higher Mind, My Greater Consciousness where Infinite possibilities exist. And it is I who opens the floodgates and allows miracles and magic to flow into my life.
Through my Greater Consciousness, I am aware that the floodgates of heaven are always open. And it is always raining miracles.
However, we're not always tapped in. The collective consciousness is more tapped into pain, sorrow, and scarcity. We have accepted this way of being as if it's the natural way of life.
Thus, that is what we make our life about, mitigating pain, sorrow, and scarcity.
When you approach life in this way you end up living a very limited life. Because that premise doesn't leave much room for creativity and magic...for miracles to unfold as a normal, natural part of life.
We delude ourselves into thinking we're creating a life of our choosing, but what we're really doing is reacting to life not creating it.
Do you notice if you rearrange the letters in the word reacting, you get the word creating? We must learn to direct our focus toward our true vision. What is it that you would love your life to be about? The focus must be on that, not on what you are running away from or trying to avoid.
When we turn our focus from allaying conditions and circumstances, we become more aware of opportunities around us. We begin to see what else is available to us beyond our restricted perception of reality.
There is more beyond our limited points of view.
And I am curious what life would look like if we rearranged our minds to see miracles as normal as breathing. To accept that life is about creating, creating what we love, what's in our hearts to create, and seeing the magic and beauty in the creative process.
After all, we are creators. That is what it means to be created in the image and likeness of God. "The image and likeness of" refers to our creative power...a power we are all endowed with.
We must take up our responsibility as creators to create the life of our choosing...A life of true choice, creating what we'd really love to be, see, and experience.
When we devote our energy to that the floodgates of heaven do open, and we get to experience miracles every day in every moment.
As we close out chapter 2 of 52, I invite you to ponder; what would it be like to take on the assumption that miracles are all there is and operate from that place.
What would that create in your life this year?
How might that assist you in achieving the goals you have set for yourself?
What if you could live out the year(s) in the expectation of miracles?
I intend that these lines open the gates of your Greater Consciousness and awareness of new possibilities. And may the miracles start flooding in.
